Destination: Costa Palmas, Baja California - the new luxury destination on the West Coast

I had the great pleasure to preview the new Costa Palmas Project on my recent trek to Southern Baja. This is truly going to change the level of who goes to Baja in the upcoming years.

A thousand-acre private beachfront resort along the Sea of Cortés, they will be able to offer what is missing from most of the Los Cabos properties… a private and beautiful swimmable beach, nearly two miles long. A town center & Marina for over 250 yachts and craft, it will be a self-contained community. An estuary just to the north of the resorts and villas, there are even plans for it’s own farms for the Farm to Table dining.

Currently, the Four Seasons is under full construction, with a Beach Club House completed and a few small cabanas along the beach to house potential Villa customers. With Villas running in the multi-million dollar range, everyone is being very well taken care of. The Four Seasons is slated to start operations mid-2019, and the recently added, Amanvari, is planned to open in 2021. While I was there, negotiations were still under way for a 3rd Resort tenant… possibly being Soho House. This would be located south of the Marina and Marina Village. Needless to say, land prices have skyrocketed all around the region.

It does look to me, the developer Irongate has things pretty well taken care of. And with hope, it will retain a character that of a modern Baja retreat, rather than a So Cal Mall development. But regardless, this is going to bring a whole new luxury client to Southern Baja, one that never really considered the region before. What I have seen so far, it appears to be a grand and well executed project, and will be the high end destination on the Pacific Coast of North America. Can’t wait for my invite to a soft launch of the Four Seasons!

Either by your private boat or an hour and thirty minute drive from SJD San Jose airport. But I know of plans to open a smaller private airport just 10 minutes away may be in the works.

Amanvari

Being a bit of an Aman Junkie, this is what alerted me to this project. Located north of the Four Seasons, Aman picked a bit more of a remote location and closer to the estuary. Construction is yet to begin, and it looks like 2021 will be a good date for opening. I will update as information changes here.
