Boasting a dramatic desert backdrop nestled by coastlines of the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez, Cabo San Lucas has some of the most luxurious resorts, world-class Marina (featuring 380 slips accommodating vessels up to 200 feet) & the biggest fishing tournaments in the world.
For my definition, when I hear of Los Cabos, this is the stretch of Pacific Beach between San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas. Generally Sunny & Dry, the region has mostly a desert climate with low humidity, rather then the wetter and more humid areas further down the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
Los Cabos is almost able to boast endless sunshine making it an ideal vacation getaway. And being a 2 and one-half hour flight from Los Angeles, one of the easiest vacation spots to go for those living on the West Coast. If it has a drawback… Cabo’s long sandy beaches are not generally safe to swim, the strong Pacific surf and current are just to rough. There are a few places you can swim, but I have always found the Pacific waters a bit more chilly than those along the Caribbean and Indian Ocean. But, there are still some excellent properties with excellent pools and facilities to more than make up for the lack of splish-splashing in the ocean.

Spring and Fall have the best weather (mid 80’s)… December to February the highs are in the high 70’s, with July through September being in the 90’s. Beside the occasional tropical storm, it is a desert climate.
Yes, you do need to be careful in certain regions. Essentially if you are heading to any of the main tourist destinations, those areas are kept very safe. But if you go looking for trouble, you can find that almost anywhere.
