Quite a few of the planned openings for 2020 & 2021 are seeing some extreme revisions of the dates they plan to open or reopen.
A list of my most anticipated New Hotel Openings or Renovations for 2021. Most, but not all, are Resorts, many are Luxury or Boutique properties. Hopefully they will be bringing something new and unique to the world of hospitality.
Announced to open late Late 2021

Set within an integrated development, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands takes a minimalist approach to luxury. Splendido Mare, a Belmond Hotel, Portofino will reopen following a complete renovation by Paris design agency Festen Architecture. “The Mare” is the first to be renovated under the LVMH ownership; inspired by its maritime heritage, Festen Architecture reinterpreted traditional craftsmanship in contemporary ways, complemented with antique objects and custom furnishings.

North of Cabo San Lucas is the “magical town” of Todos Santos. This area is turning into the Tulum of the West Coast, of sorts. For those who want to escape the over-developed hotel strip of Cabo, this farm turned into a boutique hotel may be just the location you are looking for.

Six Senses will open its first property in South America in the desirable Mantiqueira area, 2.5 hours from São Paulo and 3.5 hours from Rio de Janeiro, 3,940 feet (1,200 meters) above sea level and at the confluence of three river valleys in the heart of the Mantiqueira Mountains. Formerly known as Botanique Hotel & Spa, the hotel was born out of Fernanda Ralston Semler’s vision to set a new benchmark in luxury hospitality that was completely home-grown, recognizing local traditions and culture, as well as its natural setting. When the property adopts the Six Senses brand in early 2021, it will offer seven suites in the main hotel and 13 private villas dotted in the hills around it. A further 14 villas are planned and will be constructed off-site in a modular manner using local materials. They will be sited to minimize their impact on the surrounding flora and fauna.

Announced to open Summer 2021
Ideally situated on a private 18-acre peninsula overlooking Marigot Bay and Grand Cul-de-Sac on the island of St. Barth in the French West Indies, Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth will reopen its doors in Summer 2021. Originally opened in 1986, the fabled resort quickly established itself as one of the most iconic resorts in the world. Upon reopening, the resort will offer 66 guestrooms, suites and villas featuring vibrant design elements that embrace the property’s unique Caribbean allure.

The Hotel will be located at 30 Avenue George V. This Avenue forms with the Champs Elysees and the Avenue Montaigne the famous “Triangle d’Or”, one of Paris’ most exclusive and distinctive areas offering a wealth of luxury shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions. The Bvlgari Hotel Paris will offer 76 rooms, most of them suites, and a full range of luxury facilities including a spa with a 25-metre pool and a Bvlgari restaurant and bar opening to a charming courtyard garden.

Announced for April 2021
The Chatwal Lodge, located 90 miles north of New York City, in the town of Bethel, New York, will open on April 1, 2021. Located at The Chapin Estate, a 2,500-acre gated residential community, The Chatwal Lodge is nestled within a 30-acre environmentally protected land. Guests will enjoy views of the 1,000-acre Toronto Reservoir Lake, have access to hiking trails, and have chances to spot white-tailed deer and nesting bald eagles.

Announced for Autumn 2021
Hilton announced the signing of a new LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Kyoto, Japan, marking the debut of the luxury brand in Asia Pacific. LXR Hotels & Resorts is Hilton’s collection of independent luxury hotels in which each property offers a unique and locally immersive experience that is deeply personalized and naturally woven into the fabric of the destination. While each hotel embodies a distinctive character and history, all LXR hotels are united through exceptional service and access to the extensive benefits and strength of the Hilton enterprise, for both owners and guests alike.
In collaboration with esteemed real estate company, Tokyu Land Corporation, the new LXR property is scheduled to open in autumn 2021 as part of the 28.6-acre Shozan Resort Kyoto.
