Recently having spent a few days in Barcelona, it is easy to see why it is such a popular destination. The weather is lovely, it has an old world charm and lacks the pretense and rush of some of the larger European cities. The Catalan people are friendly and welcoming, even during the most hectic of tourist season.
A year round destination… however mid-April to early-June is the best time of the year to visit.
The winters can be a bit chilly, and the summers hot and muggy. Swimming Season in the Mediterranean is from the end of June to early October. As with most of Europe, August is the busiest tourist season, either plan ahead or be prepared for sold out conditions at all quality lodgings.

Recently opened, The Barcelona Edition is elegant, modern and very comfortable to stay. This is currently my first choice to stay whenever in Barcelona. And the location is one of the best of all the hotels I have visited in this city. As with other Ian Schrager hotels, it has special rooms and even a Cabaret on weekend nights (Adults Only, of course). Being next door to the Santa Caterina Market makes it that much better.

A wonderful hotel. With only 28 rooms, it is intimate and the staff takes care of evertyhing to perfection. A modern Spanish diesgn, close to the Gothic region but near the ocean for some cool breezes at the rooftop bar & pool. And the 1-Star Michelen kitchen makes eating here a treat all day long.

The Gothic Quarter
