The Westin – Singapore

Review The Westin Singapore Report

An unexpected trip to Singapore led me to staying here for 5 nights. And I initially rolled my eyes at staying at the new Westin. I really don’t care for “Business” hotels as a rule… but I will admit to have misjudged the Westin Singapore… a great hotel.

It is one of those hotel that sits a top a skyscraper, so the views are spectacular… at least for now, Singapore seems to be growing up all around this new area. So there was still a lot of construction going on at land level, making getting to the hotel a bit odd at times. But once there, it feels very comfortable. The reception area has a lovely bar and sitting area, and at the time 25% off Veuve Clicquot for SPG members, I was hooked.

The Westin Singapore – Premier Sea View room

I had a spacious room with a sweeping view of the bay and all the shipping and cargo unloading. The bathroom almost as big as a the bedroom and super functional, and a bathtub with that view was very enticing, even for me. Loved the room and the Wifi was fast. Something has to be said for a new hotel, everything works (if done right). The Westin Singapore was done right.

Lucky me, Singapore was having a heat wave when I was there. I find the weather generally miserable whenever I am there, this was doubly so, and all the Singaporeans were complaining as well. The infinity pool was a lifesaver. After running around early in the day… after lunch I just sorta cooled in the pool and watched commerce float by in the bay. An added bonus, Airbus was demonstrating the A350 for Singapore Air, so it would fly by every 45 minutes or so. #AVgeek delight. The final added bonus to Westin Singapore, it was about 2 blocks from a major Hawker Centre on Boon Tat street. Eight different stalls of Satay alone, to sample all the different styles of preparation of Singapore’s national food.

I would have no problem staying at to the Westin Singapore again.
