Destination French Polynesia Society Islands the island of Tahiti hotel suggestions basic information and travel assistance

The center and heart of French Polynesia

All flights and most business is conducted on the island of Tahiti. The island itself is almost 2 islands, the larger to the north Tahiti-Nui, and to the south a smaller island, Tahiti-Iti. An isthmus connects the two. The capital of the nation, Pape’ete, is located on Tahiti-Nui along with most of the main accommodations of the island.

While many use Tahiti for an overnight stop before heading onto one of the other islands or a cruise, Tahiti itself has a lot to offer and should not be overlooked for a few nights stay.
