North of the Main Island Tahiti lies the atoll of Tetiaroa. 12 Motu (Islands) clustered around a protected Lagoon. Marlon Brando fell in love with atoll and purchased a 99-year lease in 1966. The majority of the atoll is a sanctuary / bio-reserve with only Onetahi being slightly developed with the airstrip and The Brando resort.
Easy for guests of The Brando, private flights are offered from Tahiti PPT Fa’a’ā International Airport for a minor charge.
There are several day trip or weekend catamaran charters that go to the atoll from Tahiti or Moorea. Private catamaran charters can be arranged as well. No large boats or catamarans have access the Lagoon.
There is no bad time to go to French Polynesia. May thru October are considered the drier season.
