Clear Biometric ID Service – Time to sign up

Clear Biometric ID Service

I will admit, when I first heard of Clear, the Biometric ID Service, I was a bit skeptical. I have TSA Pre, I have Global Entry, couldn’t figure out why I would want to pony up $179.00 to join. And for me, the service wasn’t even at LAX, so “when would I be able to use it?” was another question.

Since then Delta, has pumped some money into Clear, and is expanding it’s network. Recently Clear moved into LAX and there is a Delta SkyMiles discount, so I signed up. Even signed up the husband, who felt I was being a bit wasteful when he first found out. All this right before the heading off to Denver.

Final Registration at the Airport
This process was rather quick, but with the TSA Pre line empty, I did feel like I made a possible mistake, but finished up and into Terminal 4 at LAX within 7+ minutes or so.

Coming Home from Denver
Never having been to Denver I was unaware that their TSA is close to nightmarish, and when I saw that TSA Pre was closed on our side of the Terminal, thought we were doomed to a hellish line. But there it was, no one waiting at the Clear Station except a real pleasant “Ambassador” who even gave me a few tips for a faster approval, it appears my hands and fingers are a bit dry.

Clear made the Security near painless at DEN, and was worth every penny. Anything that makes travelling easier nowadays is money well spent (within reason of course).

I will assume as more people sign up for the service it will become a bit less speedy, but again, they can just add a few more kiosks where needed. And they do still need to roll it out to more Airports, ORD is one seriously missing from the network. But I am glad to have the service, and plan on using whenever possible. And even without it being at Tom Bradley here in LAX, I think you will see me jaunting over to T4 to use Clear before any future International flights.
