Birthday Bliss in Bath at The Gainsborough Bath Spa

Hotel Report Birthday Bliss in Bath at The Gainsborough Bath Spa Review

Hotel/Spa Report by: Madame Now

This was a delightful stay with the purpose of enjoying the Spa Village Bath to its fullest extent. The room was well appointed, with a most comfortable bed and bedding. I loved the Pillow Menu, perfect for the Goldie Locks who lives inside all of us. I ordered two pillows that were “Just right”. I always appreciate a room with windows that open as I like fresh air while sleeping. If you desire the full on hibernating bear cave experience (which I do not) one needed only close the the luscious dark grey drapes.

I booked a Spa room, and found it was unnecessary as I spent most of my two and a half days in the spa downstairs. If you are not taking advantage of the Spa then I why not spend the extra money to have thermal water pumped into your own bathtub?

For those of us who use hair dryers, you will not be able to use it in the actual bathroom, as building codes only allow for electric shaver outlets in the bathroom due to the U.K.’s high voltage.

The Spa Village was superb, it’s stunning, perhaps it is one of the best I have ever visited, and spa team headed by the very knowledgeable Kabir were excellent. My stay was right after a Bank Holiday so it was quiet. There are lots of choices, both the massages I received were FANTASTIC truly the best massages I’ve received in a very long time. I can highly recommend the Malaysian Experience and Hot Stone massage, and the Renew With Rose Facial and Magnesium Body Wrap. I love the products that are used at the spa which include Kirsten Florian and the gorgeous ama la.

After each treatment you are offered the most delicious Jing Blackcurrant and Hibiscus Tea paired with a naught Macaron ( tempting but not really healthy ). On that note I highly suggest that the hotel consider adding an entire Spa Menu for those who want to make the most of a Healthy Rejuvenation Retreat as their facility.

I loved the Shaved Lavender Ice that one used to cool down after a steam or sauna. There are three soaking pools, and a full sized pool with various features such as a Bubble Massage and Water Fall.

It is sad to me that health regulations require the spa to use chlorine in the Thermal Water soaking tubs and pool. It was not excessive, but it was noticeable. I guess this is an argument for paying the extra fee to have unadulterated thermal water pumped into your own tub 😉

The Spa could step up their tidiness a little bit, but perhaps it is the clientele that needs to learn how to place their used towels in the provided bins? All around I give the hotel and spa and A+ despite these observations.
