Unparalleled Alpine Beauty
Famed for its staggering, high-elevation beauty, Switzerland’s mountain villages, glitzy ski resorts, glacial lakes, and Alpine hiking trails offer unbeatable winter or summer outdoor experiences. Traveling by train is the way to go – book a ticket on the beautiful Glacier Express, the “slowest express train in the world,” for incredible scenery.
Switzerland Tourism’s new ambassador Roger Federer features in the organization’s latest film. He’s joined by legendary actor and Oscar winner Robert De Niro. In the short film, De Niro turns down an invitation by Federer to be part of a movie about Switzerland. He thinks, the destination is pure, impressive and utterly beautiful – but there is no drama in Switzerland, something De Niro focuses his acting upon. The film can be seen online worldwide.

Finally, the chance to switch off and have some time to yourself. Suddenly it all comes together. The architecture is impressive. The mountains all around you echo their ancient beauty. It’s a unique experience for the mind, body, and senses wherever you are: relaxing in the award-winning thermal baths, dining in the two-Michelin-starred restaurant 7132 Silver, or sipping a cocktail surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. The 7132 Hotel: an homage to all that is real and true.
Therme Vals, the thermal bath complex designed by architect Peter Zumthor, has long been regarded as an architectural masterpiece. And now, in Hotel 7132, this Swiss Alpine village has a hotel that’s worthy of sharing space with the famous spa. It didn’t happen without some effort, and a cast of pretty eminent characters. The original mid-century modernist hotel on the site has been brought up to contemporary luxury-hotel standard, after a massive renovation that included not just Zumthor himself, but also drafted Japanese architects Tadao Ando and Kengo Kuma as well as the American Pritzker-winner Thom Mayne.

The Schilthorn became famous as a location for the 1969 James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. The revolving restaurant at the summit, which rotates around its own axis once every 45 minutes, owes its current name Piz Gloria to the film production. Interested visitors can follow in James Bond’s footsteps in the interactive Bond World exhibition or on the 007 Walk of Fame.
