… and much more
Namibia regularly comes back as an underrated top experience of many global travelers; the nation combines true beauty with first-class lodging potential. The Skeleton Coast is oft-visited; it’s a stretch of coastal land with numerous shipwrecks, the local Himsa people, and diverse wildlife (including flamingos and elephants). Cape Cross, located on the Skeleton Coast, features a colony of about a million sea lions.

Parents traveling with children:
Parents traveling to Namibia with children should be prepared to produce unabridged birth certificates for their children demonstrating their parental relationship. Birth certificates should be original or certified copies of the original. When one parent is traveling alone with a child, he or she should present the unabridged birth certificate, plus a notarized consent from the other parent listed on the birth certificate authorizing him or her to enter/depart from Namibia with the child. Alternatively, the parent could also present a court order granting him or her full legal custody of the child, or the death certificate of the other parent named on the birth certificate.

Reducing environmental footprints also means tapping into limited natural resources as little as possible. In Namibia’s barren Namib desert, a recent revamp by Jack Alexander of Johannesburg-based Fox Browne Creative turned the two-decade-old andBeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge into a self-sustaining mini village. The original structures were given a sleek makeover with local renewable materials like rock, stone, and sand and were fit with solar panels to provide the lodge with off-grid electricity, enough to also power rainwater harvesting tanks and water recycling systems.
Of note: I am a Preferred Partner with this hotel. Enjoy complimentary VIP amenities when booking with me (e.g. room upgrade, early check-in, late check-out, daily breakfast, complimentary WiFi, Food or Spa Credit).

Namib desert
Nestled on the Southern edge of the Namibian desert in the Karas region within an extraordinary Nature Reserve, Sonop is created in the form of a luxurious tented camp constructed on top of boulders. Ten lavish tents invite guests to live the life of yesteryear’s wealthy explorers from the early 20th century. Just like those travellers who traded their beloved homes for the bare Namibian desert dunes, the guests of Sonop will get a taste of living in complete isolation while enjoying the comfort of their accommodation.
