I had good luck for my stay in Beijing… the weather was lovely and the air was rather clean and clear. It made for a lovely time and a bit of sightseeing.
Beijing is a wonderful mix of old and new. You can visit the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, and the Ming Tombs. At the same time, you can visit the 2008 Olympic sites (where Michael Phelps became a household name) and see the massive rise in infrastructure. Also, be sure to speak with your advisor about foodie options. Some of the Beijing dishes are to die-for.
Beijing Shi, Haidian Qu
One of my favorite of the Aman Resorts. And with the private entrance to the Palace Gardens, a wonderful place for a few days to enjoy Beijing.
Adjacent to the East Gate of the Summer Palace grounds Aman at Summer Palace, Beijing, housed in a series of dwellings, most of which date back over one hundred years. Some of the original dwellings were used by guests of the Summer Palace awaiting an audience with the Empress Dowager Cixi at the turn of the twentieth century. Aman at Summer Palace, Beijing is a peaceful retreat from which to explore the many exciting faces of China’s capital.

The Swire Group’s “House” concept hotels are aways a pleasure. And the location is great for a first time in Beijing.
Breath-taking from the outside and equally stunning within, the design is one of seamless space. The house is a vibrant mix of modern and traditional, at the heart of which is a large central atrium where the conventional boundaries of hotel activities are subtly blurred.
