APEX EXPO for Summer 2017 Long Beach California. The Expo ran from March 26 thru 28.
The main thing about this Apex Expo was IFE (& C) the Tech and the content on your In Flight Entertainment. Also running in the next door hall were Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) which focused more on the hard product suppliers. And, not to be forgotten, in Hall A, International Flight Services Association (IFSA) Expo, all about the Suppliers & Caterers who help supply the meals and snacks in the Sky.
I will be expanding on this section and a few of the topics as I review more closely all the materials.
The suppliers of the Communications and Entertainment Systems are going through some radical changes. Beside the new satalite and connectivity improvements (more bandwidth and higher speeds) there is a race to capture the integration of a Passenger’s own devices (and personal info) and that found on the plane, even connecting passengers before entering the Airport for a flight. Over the next 2 or so years, there should be some big changes with the new technology as it goes into service. We will be seeing more for Panasonic, Thales, Zodiac Sytems and Lufthansa Systems over the next few years… there is a lot more potential here once the more robust platforms get into place.
A new Cabin Concept with JetBlue being the launch customer. Featuring all new cabin and interior LED lighting system.
New content added and a new headset… we shall see how the Air France & Joon flyer will use this interesting product.
Panasonic was showing a few of it’s Biometric products and partnership with Tascent and their Iris Scanning technology. Fascinating developments for the future of easing the pain of security at the airport.
